“A direct or absent gaze, a faint smile, a posture — each creates a quiet complicity with the viewer.”
Creative practice
Portraits of imaginary characters steeped in pop culture — music, film, everyday icons — alongside landscapes and atmospheres, on canvas, paper and a variety of surfaces. Vivid lines over richly worked grounds. Each work is a presence. His Landscapes series carries this exploration into landscape itself, between the geometry of flat colour and the animal or plant presences that find their way in.
Compositions under the alias VESTIBULE71. Music and painting are inseparable — each painting is carried by its own soundscape, with melody and colour answering one another.
Repurposed fire extinguishers (POP LIFE series), lamps, site-specific interventions. Art finds its way into everyday objects, transformed into unique, collectable pieces.
Works
Faces, places, stories. Imaginary, benevolent beings inhabit some canvases; others open only onto a landscape, a texture, an atmosphere. All are born of line, colour, chance, my musical background and the moment — and all seek the same thing: to build a particular kind of trust with whoever is looking.

Series 01
The face as an inner territory: imaginary, benevolent characters who seek to convey not a message but a gentle feeling — a form of trust.
Series 02
A neo-pop vein: bold colours, spray and pastel, figures fed by music, cinema and everyday icons.
Series 03 · New series 2026
After the faces, the gaze shifts to landscape: territories of colour and texture, crossed by lines, where a flower, a bird, a presence comes to settle.

Philippe Guesdon Créations
Biography
Philippe Guesdon has painted since childhood and first exhibited at the age of 18. Born in 1971, he lives and works in Orléans — for him, painting and music are one.
His work explores the human face as an inner territory. Imaginary, benevolent characters who seek to convey not a message but gentle feelings — a form of trust, a deep connection with the viewer.
He works mainly on canvas, but also gives pride of place to unexpected surfaces: slate, paper, repurposed objects. Each series grows out of a spontaneous gesture, fed by colour, strokes of the palette knife, spray paint and pastel.
Music runs through his work from end to end. He composes electronic tracks in his studio — sometimes a drum loop while the paint dries, sometimes a melody that dictates the tones of a canvas. Each painting, a score. Each exhibition, a complete sensory experience.

“Each painting is paired with a musical atmosphere — an existing one, or one conceived as a sonic extension of the canvas.”
